DFIN at DealStreetAsia Asia Private Equity Leadership Summit 2026, Hong Kong

Liquidity, execution and a more disciplined phase for Asia private markets

DFIN was pleased to support DealStreetAsia’s inaugural Asia Private Equity Leadership Summit in Hong Kong, held on 20 May 2026, which convened more than 300 senior leaders across private equity, institutional investment firms, fund managers, private credit firms and advisory firms to discuss the evolving dynamics shaping Asia’s private capital landscape. The event provided a valuable opportunity to connect with the investor community and introduce the latest enhancements to the DFIN Venue® Virtual Data Room to support modern deal execution.

Against this backdrop, several key themes emerged from discussions throughout the summit:

1. A shift towards liquidity and disciplined outcomes

A consistent theme across the agenda was the growing importance of liquidity and exit pathways. Discussions centred on how sponsors are navigating longer holding periods and evolving exit routes, including secondaries, continuation structures and alternative liquidity strategies.

While capital availability remains relatively resilient, fund managers are operating in a more outcome-driven environment, where the ability to realise value and return capital to investors is becoming a defining measure of success.

2. Execution and control in more complex, multi-track transactions

Alongside liquidity, the summit highlighted how deal execution has become more demanding. Transactions are no longer linear. Fundraising, diligence, portfolio management and exit preparation often run concurrently, requiring tighter coordination across multiple stakeholders.

With a broader mix of participants—including private wealth channels and private credit—deal processes are becoming more complex and information-intensive.  At the same time, LP expectations continue to evolve, with greater emphasis on transparency, governance and defensible reporting across the investment lifecycle. Together, these dynamics are placing increased importance on how information is structured, shared and managed throughout a transaction.

3. Selective capital allocation, with AI and deep tech shaping the next wave

The summit also highlighted a more selective and regionally differentiated investment landscape, with investors recalibrating strategies across Greater China, North Asia and other key markets.

Alongside this, there was increasing focus on how capital is being deployed into AI and deep tech opportunities—particularly in China and North Asia—where policy, capital formation and platform ecosystems are shaping the next generation of scalable technology investments. While not the dominant theme, AI is clearly moving beyond early-stage venture and becoming an important consideration in broader capital allocation and long-term value creation strategies.
